On Sunday, Pathmark invited top gospel choirs to perform on the legendary stage of the World Famous Apollo Theater in celebration of Black History Month. The Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition of Harlem treated local residents and their families to a free, song-filled Sunday, as choirs from across the Northeast went head-to-head with Metro New York’s best for $10,000 in prizes.

The Youth Division choirs kicked off the competition at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Open Division choir competition which ran from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Photo highlights of the competition are posted below. Harlem’s own Mama Foundation won first place and founder Vy Higginsen was presented with a $5,000 check.
