As a big kid at heart, nothing warms my heart more than the thought of a boutique toy store in Harlem. That place is Grandma’s Place. Located on West 120th Street, right around the corner from Settepani’s on Lenox Avenue, a small world of childhood wonder exists. Grandma, also known as Dawn Harris-Martine, is a retired educator who opened a store suited to meet both the educational and playful side of our youngest Harlemites.

You will be buzzed into a warm and cozy world where dolls of color, books, games, and toys peer out at you from shelves and racks. Grandma’s Place is that neighborhood specialty store where you are given personal attention and that leaves you anxious for your next trip to the small world in Harlem where you can feel like a kid again.
