An upscale, yet laid back atmosphere in Harlem? It can be found at the new Chocolat Lounge which opened a few months ago on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.
Chocolat is the brainchild of Leon Ellis, owner of long time Harlem staple Moca Lounge on the opposite side of Frederick Douglass.
Last night, Chocolat hosted a wonderful launch event that offered Chocolate Kiss Martinis and other specialty cocktails, as well as delicious appetizers. The fried shrimp with just a dollop of spicy sauce was a favorite, as were the crab cakes, and the beef satay.
A tasting station featured healthy fare like fresh fruits, nuts, and cheeses. A second station offered a chocolate fondue fountain, replete with marshmallows and strawberries for your dipping pleasure.
Chocolat is the type of place that is perfect for catching up with an old friend, or taking a date for a romantic dinner. We plan to go back to try the regular dinner or brunch menu soon.
Chocolat is located at 2217-23 Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 120th Street
