*Editor’s note: This event has been canceled* This Saturday, July 10, the organizers of Jazzmobile will bring their annual free concert to Central Park. “Great Jazz on the Great Hill” returns with legendary saxophonist Jimmy Heath, Latin jazz percussionist Ray Mantilla and Dion Parson’s 21st Century Band, joined by 2009 Jazzmobile Vocal Competition winner Brianna Thomas.
From 1 to 2 pm, muralist Emmett Wigglesworth will lead a free Mural-Making Art Workshop in The Peter Jay Sharp Children’s Glade; children will collaborate to create a large mural that will serve as the backdrop for the stage. Great food will be available to buy from Spoonbread Too Restaurant and Greenmarket farmers. Blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome. The show will be from 2 to 5 pm.
To get to the concert, which is being held weather-permitting, enter the Park at 106th Street (Duke Ellington Blvd.) and Central Park West and walk up the stairs or ramp to the Great Hill.
