Frederick Douglass is heating up to be the hottest street in Harlem, soon to rival 125th Street in grandeur! With Polished Nail Salon and Bibi Hair salon, uptown girls will never have to head downtown again for their grooming needs again!

In a week that has been jammed packed with launch parties Bibi Salon, an upscale hair salon owned by Maisha Teacher, closed out the week with a reveal of its new space at 2220 Frederick Douglass Blvd. Bibi Salon employs a diverse staff that specialize in a variety of services for all hair types, including trendy cuts, vibrant color, and conditioning treatments.

The salon was wall to wall people  on Friday night as mouth-watering appetizers still hot from Chocolat (across the street) were passed around the room. A bartender poured glasses of wine and his specialty drink of the night which he dubbed, “A little touch of heaven” made with a rich dark rum and pineapple juice. Vanilla mini cupcake shots from Harlem’s favorite bakery, Make My Cake, provided just the right amount of sweetness to counter the spicy and savory flavors of fried shrimp and BBQ ribs.

As a way of giving back to the community, Maisha plans to host a knitting circle for teen moms and she is accepting donations of yarn and needles.
