Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

So, here it is Christmas week and you still haven’t bought your tree?  Not to worry because there are still plenty of live Christmas trees to be found around Harlem.  If you are down near 116th Street check out the vendor featured on Harlem Condo Life.

If you are farther uptown then you can pick up a nice tree at one of two locations.  The first is in front of the Rite Aid on 145th and Broadway.  This lot has trees that are 5 ft. and up starting around $40.00.  Unfortunately they have sold out of their smaller trees, but you can head down 145th Street to Frederick Douglass where they have a beautiful selection of trees with helpful sales people.  The least expensive tree at this vendor will run you around $30 or so.

If you are terribly low on funds this year, but you really have your heart set on a live tree then you can check back at the lots on Christmas Eve (late in the evening) and probably get a good deal (sometimes a free tree!)  The selection won’t be the greatest however.

Once the new year has been rung in, don’t just toss your tree out onto the street.  The city is sponsoring MulchFest.  Just bring your tree to a designated site and the city will recycle your tree into mulch that will be used to nourish the colorful spring flowers next year. Locations include many of the larger Harlem parks.  For a complete list of mulching locations click here.
