Harriet’s Alter Ego, the über funkee boutique out of Brooklyn, returned to Harlem for its annual Shop N Mingle event at the National Black Theater on 125th Street and 5th Avenue.
The event features over 20 local designers displaying their wares that range from handmade jewelry to clothes and beauty products. Sponsors of the event generously provided refreshments that included Nuvo and Sugarhill Ale to the bargain hunting shoppers who managed to score items such as custom made skirts by Sofistafunk Skirt Company and fashionable throw pillows by Laidback.
An upbeat DJ provided the background grooves for the 6 hour event. Shoppers were gifted with a ‘swag bag’ filled with music, beauty products, and goodies as they exited the venue. Quite a few shoppers promised to return the next day for items that they weren’t able to take home today.
In addition to the shopping and mingling that took place today, tomorrow there will be the added bonus of a fashion show. Doors will open at 1 pm and the event will end at 7 pm. It is recommended that you RSVP, however walk ins are welcome.
