The Truth About Sex and the City

According to an article that appeared in Newsday, many of you are having sex with multiple partners but only 40% of you are using a condom every time. For shame! At a time when the AIDS crisis is still actually a crisis and STD cases are up, one would think that men and women would be taking steps to protect themselves. Yet, tens of thousands of New Yorkers are playing a risky game of Russian Roulette every time they hook up without strapping up.

Whether the excuse is being caught up in the moment,  sheer laziness or false feelings of invincibility you must be responsible for your own health and the health of the person you are spending time with. AIDS and HIV are the truth and although the new drug treatments are able to prolong the lifespan of some AIDS victims, there is still no cure for the disease. Soraya Elcock, a deputy director with the Harlem United Community Aids Center:

Also, in a strange way, she said, the advancement of AIDS treatment contributes to a feeling of that they don’t need protection.

“You don’t see people sick, dead and dying, and the sense of urgency decreased,” Elcock said. “People think it is a manageable disease.”

And be sure to get the real deal. We want you to stick around.
