GEOLOGY BUS EXPEDITION with SIDNEY HORENSTEIN
Wednesday, November 12, 2008
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Fort Tryon, Highbridge, & Inwood Hill Parks, and smaller parks in Northern Manhattan

Join our Geology Bus Expedition and see what the evidence reveals about how geology affected the development and growth of northern Manhattan Island.

Sid Horenstein will lead the expedition to the three largest Northern Manhattan Parks (Fort Tryon, Highbridge, & Inwood Hill) and several smaller parks. We’ll travel from site to site on our special Parks’ tour bus but, at each site, we’ll disembark for a short walk to view the evidence.

Sidney Horenstein is a geologist by training, Environmental Educator Emeritus for the American Museum of Natural History, and local resident. He is renowned for his extensive knowledge of the natural and social history of the area.

This is a FREE program but, because seating is limited, RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please RSVP before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10th. By email at Linda.Huntington@parks.nyc.gov.

The bus is wheelchair accessible but, as noted above, space is very limited, so please call early to reserve your spot. Call Linda at (212) 795-1388.
