And not to be outdone, on my way over to my mother’s I noticed quite an odd setup. At first glace it looked like a fenced in solar power setup. Upon closer examination it was a machine designed to analyze the air quality in the area. This is part of a study Columbia University it doing:

Londel’s is linked on the left sidebar under restaurants. They are on 8th Avenue near 140th Street. They serve American and Soul Food.

Hey, D. Thanks for posting it. I had begun writing it up and when I put my laptop to sleep it disappeared…lol. I couldn’t find it anywhere.
The automotive place did open up and it features a bunch of pricey cars inside a showroom. It honesly looks like a collection of cars commonly used in most rap videos (Bentley’s, Jaguars, etc) .
I am honestly baffled by this. It makes just as much sense as Emperor’s Roe did when it comes to strategic businesses in Harlem. Let’s see what’s in store.

Is it that the developers and owners are refusing those types of leases or is that no one is approaching them with those types of businesses in mind?
I’ve been thinking Harlem could use a small, indy bookstore (it could even be a used bookstore with a carafe of coffee) in the 145th/Hamilton Heights area. There are also no pet stores in the 30s and 40s that I know of.

It would be great if some of these property owners would lease their spaces to services that most residents want — Bookstores, pet shops, ice cream establishments, bakeries, formal wear, frame shops, linen/household shops are needed for groundfloor/street level establishments.
