Ed. note: Two people have revived this conversation within the last couple of hours. One person said that the dealership is like a fish out of water in that location. Also, they question the potential clientèle and wonder if they will be catering to drug dealers.
Considering the state of the economy and gas prices doesn’t it just seem like bad timing?

To mica, I’m sure these brothers are doing their thing with integrity. I have no reason to think otherwise. But what we don’t need is validation because they are “God-fearing” men. We have enough of that in our politics today. And just because they good christian brothers with good intentions should not imply that their business plan is realistic. Seen too many businesses fail under those type of assumptions.

I think some of the commentators are missing the point of this dealership in Harlem. If read correctly, they will read that a young brother is part owner of this enterprise. Interestingly enough, somewhere along his travels he worked hard, saved his money gained a reputation for selling these types of vehicles and is capitalizing on his success. THIS IS AMERICA…. Is this not what we desire for our own children to aspire to? Wish him well. I would like to someday to personally welcome him into Harlem.

To know the owners…is to love or at the least respect them. I have the priviledge of knowing these humble,respectable and above all God-fearing men of integrity. I’m proud of them and assure you that they will be an asset to the community. While some are wondering why…I’m wondering what’s next for them. Will there be mentor programs and/ or community outreach programs due in part from the proceeds of their business. Because that’s the kind of men that Harlem now have among them. Mac and Ty…to God be the Glory and I love you both. your sister in Christ.

I think its great! I know someone who went all the way out to long Island to buy a luxury car. Why not buy it in Harlem? Yes we already know that the locals would not be the patrons for this spot, but why does that matter? its only a start to something bigger and better. First that’s more tax revenue and would bring about more visitors to harlem…and like chris said its black owned need i say more!!

The customers of this dealership will clearly come from everywhere but Harlem…..but who cares! And being that it’s clients won’t be locals, they definitely stand a chance of making it. This business is part of the wave of gentrification and Harlem welcomes it to Lenox Avenue!
To better understand the dealership’s decision to move to 129th St and Lenox Ave we should find out where these types of dealerships are located in NYC and why.

Great point, Gayle. Many old time Harlemites were motivated to succeed by the neat rows of homes of Striver’s Row, for example. But, why couldn’t a more affordable dealership achieve the same results?

I think that it is a good idea to bring “new and better” to a neighborhood to change the mindset. There must be a place that we dream of and a place that inspires one to be and give the best of themselves to achieve it.

i think it’s great as it illustrates the buffoonary that is Negro Harlem. Negroes think they’ve arrived when they’re selling caviar and cigars, etc. Negoes love Land Rovers, but don’t own actual ‘land’.
this car dealership on a block where 4 were shot last month is a crowning achievement, a salute to the buffoonary of the Negro.
give it less than 18 months, it will be gone. I’m actually surprised no one had shot through the glass and popped a few bullet holes in those 6 cars worth about $1M in total yet just for giggles.
keep in mind – across the street is the real story….where the lenox grand is trying to be salvaged to a day care center, a pizza parlor, etc. the failure of the lenox grand to be luxury condos is the real story. this car dealership? Negro Buffoonary at its finest.

Too much expensive mobile real estate for Harlem. Its one thing to have a million dollar condo because a couple of thugs can’t just rip it out of the building and make off with it. But in an area where 50% of the people are on welfare and you see so many hoods hanging around right there, you are asking for trouble. Even if they don’t succeed, this place is guaranteed to have attempts on it. There is nothing else in Harlem that has such a big payout now and the thugs that hang around that area simply won’t be able to resist. The 40s and 50s on the west side where (where most dealerships are) may be desolate but they are well-fortified and if the cops saw 10 thugs hanging around outside they would be able to control it. In Harlem no way; they can’t even deal with shootings.

This exotic/luxury car dealership won’t look to the local community as it’s main revenue stream. It seems that the owner of the dealership has relationships with the rich and powerful….the dealership will rely on those relationships. Additionally, having a dealership in Manhattan, in world famous Harlem, in an area that is gentrifying, that is close to Harlem Park – which will house Major League Baseball’s 24hr cable network…….might actually be a very very good idea!

I agree with “anonymous”. Who’s gright idea was it to open a luxury car dealership before you open a decent restaurant? or even a decent grocery store?
The caviar and chapagne spot made absolutely no sense in Harlem and neither does a luxury car dealer.

car dealerships in manahattan have always been housed in so called fringe areas. often you’ll find them on the very far west side in the 40′s and 50′s, which up until very recently was where you could also pick up a tranny hooker while you were test driving your car…so frankly, this stretch of lenox is a step up. this is the car business in NYC…

I’m having trouble trying to find the sense in this. These vehicles get about 8 – 12 miles per gallon. Living in Manhattan and owning a car is a pain. Whatever happened to the “green movement”? The average household income on that block, 129th and Lenox is $32K/year. Where do you test drive one of these cars by the way? On Lenox? Can someone enlighten me? How long did the caviar and champagne bar “Emperor’s Roe” stay in business…8 months at best? I give this place 16 months. Isn’t the era of defining yourself by what you drive over? Seems to me nothing about this makes sense and it’s totally out of step with the times. Most people I know that live in Manhattan that earn lots of money and can afford any car this place sells….don’t own a car, don’t want one. My friends in the same category that live in the suburbs? Well they drive sensible cars like Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys. They live in and own $2 million and $3 million dollar homes, but they own sensible practical cars.
Okay, for those keeping score, we’ve got Caviar and Champagne in Harlem, we’ve not got Bentley’s! Any chance we can get a decent grocery store in Central Harlem and basic beer and burger spot?
