Professor Jelani Cobb is live and uncut at the Democratic National Convention this week. In addition to being a Delegate for the state of Georgia, Cobb is also blogging for The Root. In his latest post, “Joy and Pain in Denver,” he writes:

Almost from the outset of his campaign Barack Obama has inspired more awkward posturing than a beginners yoga class. That was never more apparent than last night as a generation of black leadership at the Civil Rights Salute attempted to turn their downward dogs into sun salutations. Billed as a joint civil rights victory celebration and Frankie Beverly concert, it ended as an unintentional retirement party. Black leadership has been deeply ambivalent about Obama and what he represents because he highlights their own conflict of interest.”
