Look under photos in categories. I know what you are talking about. There’s a photographer who has done a series. I don’t have his name off-hand.

agree about the before and after pictures.
Uptownflavor posted an interesting website quite a time ago about another photographer who had done before and after pics of harlem (and other neighborhoods in NY) – does anyone remember this site? could you repost?
I think that the website sometimes had several photos over the years from the 60s/70s/80s/90s on some specific blocks. Photographs were of a very fine quality.
