My mother was the queen of thrift store shopping. She was one of those people that could walk out with
bags filled with designer clothes that looked like they had never been worn. I never acquired her knack for “Goodwill Hunting,” but with stores like the orderly, neat and clean Fifth Avenue location, I didn’t have to. If anyone asked you about your “finds,” you could always respond – ‘oh a vintage store on Fifth Avenue.’ Not exactly a white lie, N’est-ce pas?
Fast forward – circa July 2008. A brand, spanking new Goodwill Store is set to open in East Harlem. That’s right folks, the largest of it’s kind at a grand 22,000 sf filled with gently worn/used clothes, cookware and house goods.
Opening: July 24
Goodwill Superstore 2231 Third Ave between 121st and 122nd Sts, 212-410-0973
