Back in the day that phrase used to be an insult but in this day in age, empowered girls are playing all
kinds of sports that traditionally have been played by men. Case in point: Rugby. Amber Medina is one of a group of girls who are empowered enough to bring the sport “to the concrete jungle of East Harlem.” Amber’s mom admits:
“I didn’t want her to play,” Carmen Medina said.” “It’s a rough sport — a manly sport. And she doesn’t even look like the type to play. It’s like, ‘Wow,’ incredible.”
