It’s summer in the city, so outdoor events abound. Up in Harlem, at the Morris-Jumel Mansion on Sugar Hill—where the famed Harlem Renaissance took place, and former home to jazz icons Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, and Lena Horne—Tanqueray No. TEN and London It Girl Tamsin Lonsdale are hosting a garden picnic and twilight dancing to live jazz instrumental and vocal performances by famed local Marjorie Elliott, with vignettes from the James Gang. There will also be a silent auction to raise funds for the garden’s preservation.
Guests will include members of the exclusive Supper Club started by Lonsdale, such as Coralie Charriol, Giles Mendel, Jennifer Missoni, Katrina Pavlos, Richie Rich, Maggie Rizer, Nicole Romano, Sue Stemp, Tracy Stern, and Annabel Vartanian. And you thought you’d never see these people in Harlem. Ha! (Jumel Terrace in Harlem off of St. Nicholas Avenue at 160th Street, Thursday, June 5, 2008, 7-10 p.m.)
