  • Stroke
  • Nerve damage
  • Eye problems and blindness
  • Kidney disease
  • Early death
  • Things You Can Do to Stay Healthy
  • Taking Your Medicine

How Your Doctor Can Help You Stay Healthy:

  • Know and Control Your ‘ABCS’
  • A1C (3-month blood sugar level): Less than 7%
  • Cholesterol: LDL (”bad”) cholesterol less than 100
  • Smoking: If you smoke, quit now
