Speaking of coffee, a reader submitted the following to our inbox:
I was walking past Boma Coffee & Tea Co. on the corner of 126th and Fifth Avenue last Friday and noticed they were closed early. When I looked inside, I saw a bunch of moving pallets and many items boxed up for moving. Outside on the corner for garbage collection were many of the shelves that they used for displaying products. When I asked some guys who were moving things in and out of the location, they informed me that Boma was moving to a smaller space on Fifth Avenue a few doors down (closer to 125th). They also mentioned that there’s an Applebee’s coming to the location in its place. No word on Applebee’s website to confirm this as a future location.
Anyone with inside scoop? Based on what I know about that particular location it seems odd for an Applebee’s in that space rather than the space vacated by Pier 2110. The 5th Ave. building presently houses the National Black Theatre and Nubian Heritage (the primary owners of the building).

I saw florist folks (Pollenation, I think) moving out and they said the same thing, Applebee’s. The florist is finding a new site along 125th, but not sure where yet. I, for one, am not thrilled about such a great space going to a big box retaurant.

From what I hear, they are going to open a smaller satellite Nubian Heritage in one of the mini store fronts on the same block. NH owners own that side of the block anyway.
