NYC Tourism Wants You in ‘Harlem for the Holidays’
Every morning on my way walking to work I listen to one of those raunchy morning shows on a spanish radio station. In between a couple salsa songs there was an announcement about “Harlem for the Holidays“. I checked out the site and there you had it. A complete listing of special events and discounts to a host of harlem spots- restaurants, performance centers, and museums. Needless to say this gave me a little sense of pride on top of having AM-NY do a whole feature on my neighborhood. So to heat things up for the holidays, there will be a kick-off event at our beloved Nubian Heritage of Harlem on December 1st sponsored and DJ’d by WBLS. The site has the entire listings as well as special offers from different places. A couple that stood out were the wine tasting events at Harlem Vintage, the open house at the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and the Hip Hop Church by the none other than Kurtis Blow! While the marketing is clearly geared towards attracting people from all over to Harlem, it sounds like a perfect opportunity for those of us who live here to explore some places we haven’t gotten around to yet. It also gives you a chance to capitlize on some very cool discounts from places like Big Apple Jazz(30% off Vintage posters) and Minton’s Playhouse (2-for-1 admission)!
