Weekend Idea: Take a Tour

Posted on August 24, 2007 by

There are many ways to experience New York City and Harlem. However much you’ve seen already, there’s still more to see. So how about a tour this weekend? A couple suggestions:

The Spanish Harlem Salsa Tour, coordinated by Salsa Sight. The tour features the former and present homes of famous musicians like Joe Cuba, Tito Puente, Machito, Jimmy Delgado, “Chocoláte” Armenteros, and others; botanicas, hang-outs, social clubs, and many other cultural insights. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 212-253-8702. Morning and evening tours available. $25.

For all you joggers and runners out there, take a run through New York with City Running Tours. From the website: Running side by side with a knowledgeable guide you can see and learn about hidden New York City. From the beautiful greenery of the parks, to spectacular views of the water, to the challenging inclines of the bridges, NYC RUN allows visitors and locals alike to get their run in as well as learn about one of our country’s greatest cities. Just choose from over 20 different tours or we will create a customized run for you so that you can continue a training regimen or see specific sites. Then, name the time and the place and we’ll be there. That’s right; if you like to run at 6 a.m. on a Saturday then we do too.
