There was a question in the comments earlier about Maroons‘ Harlem outpost on 145th. There’s been buzz about this for a while now, so who knows if it’s true, but…I put in a call to the Chelsea location, and they told me that though there’s no specific date for the opening, they’re looking at the end of September. Yahoo! already lists it as being in existence. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

Okay guys…so I bring you my first update/scoop on Maroons. As I was walking to work this morning I noticed something other than the normal paper coverings and building permits on the door of the soon-to-come maroons. I had to find out what it was. Though I will be providing snapshots later this evening, basically this is what the door had. There was a rendering of what the restaurant is supposed to look like. It was a one angle shot showing the seating arrangement & the decor which consisted of some old-school black and white pics on the walls. There was also what looked like an official floorplan much like the one engineers & developers use. There was also a sign saying they were accepting reservations for large parties for the months of november and december. So it seems things at least have the appearance of progress in motion. I talked to the bartenders at the Chelsea location and they are not planning to open until (at this point) October but that was said out of the corner of their mouths. Plan on December at the earliest.

I walked by there the other day and peeked in and I don’t see where they have made to much progress. They need to kick it into high gear if they are going to make a Sept. launch. I don’t think it’s ever going to open. We’ve seen a Starbucks get build faster then that spot.
