HARLEM—The Lenox Grand, once so far ahead of the curve, has apparently come up lame in the race to the finish. A tiptser lets us know, “Closing was set to be June but developer said no way, will be July 11th. Then will be couple dozen more honkeys in Harlem.” [CurbedWire Inbox]
And on the Starbuck’s 145 front, the latest word was that there was a sign on the door saying they are slated to open July 18th. Not sure what the hold up is since they are pretty much ready to open, unless they need to get their permits, inspections and staff training in order before they start caffeinating Harlem residents. Later that day, the sign was taken down. Photos of the cozy interior are forthcoming.
Maroon’s and NYSC are also still undergoing construction and will likely open toward the end of the summer or early fall from the look of things. Maybe they will open simultaneously so you can roll/wobble across the street to work off your delicious meal.
Down the block, Oklahoma Smoke BBQ is also stalled on their anticipated opening. They’ve got their awning, a (blank) website and their menu posted but still no clue as to when they will open for business.

So far, the rumors of a Donald Trump-backed condo on the northwest corner of Central Park are greatly exaggerated.
Curbed related the rumor earlier this week that the Donald planned what would be one of the most significant residential developments in the city’s history because of its location along an edge of the iconic park that’s always seemed beyond the luxury pale.
The Observer did some digging and it looks like the rumor is just that, for now.
Carmie Elmore, the owner of the gas station at 110th Street and Central Park West where the condo’s rumored to be going, doesn’t sound like he is planning on giving up the space anytime soon.
“I am not interested in selling,” Mr. Elmore told The Observer. “A lot of people have approached me, but I am not selling.”
Has anyone with the last name Trump come calling?
“No.”
A representative for the developer also played down rumors of a development in that part of the city. “Trump is always looking for opportunities,” a spokesperson said. “At this time, though, there is no interest in that area.”

trump is a brand that can only add value, interest, & attention to harlem, a good thing. it validates harlem as being in play and on the map to a class-stratus of developmers. these other developments are not newsworthy globally. if trump builds on 110th & 8th, technically harlem, that will make world wide news.
i can’t stand paris hilton, but if she moved to 111CPN, that would be great for harlem, white ‘ho that she is.

that’s some of the worst news i’ve heard in a long time. trump is the worst. the absolute worst. i cant think of anyone i’d hate more to be developing in my neighborhood. now i dont live all that close to CPN…but i drive/walk by it all the time…and i eat around there a lot (zoma! yum!) and i can just imagine the feeling of throwing up in my mouth every time i’d have to pass anything with that man’s name on it. horrible.
