Urban Eye: Crate Diggers Delight

Dig Ye Must

Reap the rewards of fervent crate-diggers today. Devoted record bin hounds like D.J. Jazzy Jay, Lord Finesse, Miss Shing-a-Ling and Rockin’ Rob will spin their rarest tracks at an outdoor party in Harlem. Afterward, stop by one of the neighborhood’s most beloved — and now endangered — fixtures, the Record Shack, and do a little digging of your own. Look for “Group Doueh: Guitar Music From the Western Sahara,” a vinyl-only compilation that is filled with “casual but brilliantly complicated performances,” says Ben Ratliff.

Digger’s Delight, 4 p.m.-8 p.m. St. Nicholas Park Plaza, 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue. Record Shack, 274 West 125th Street (Frederick Douglass Boulevard), (212) 866-1600.
