SUMMER PROGRAMS 2007
2 Week Intensive Workshops for Children and Teens
In Classical Music; Musical Theater and Dance; and Latin Music
MUSICAL THEATER AND DANCE INTENSIVE
(Singing, Dancing, Acting and Final Showcase Performance)
SESSON I: Friday, June 29 – Friday, July 13, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
SESSON II: Monday, July 16 – Friday, July 27, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Ideal for youngsters ages 9-13, beginner and intermediate, who love to perform and would like to learn more about musical theater.
Instruction is given in: Chorus, Basic Musicianship, Vocal training, solo and group work; in Dance: Commercial Hip Hop, Musical Theater Dance, and Modern Dance, and in Acting: Audition technique, Character Study and Scene Study. In addition there will be a class on “What is Musical Theater”, and rehearsals in preparation for the showcase performance. Classes are one hour and 15 minutes in duration, and students are welcome to enroll in more than one session.
The cost for one two week session is $500, (that’s a daily fee of $50) for both sessions the cost is $900. Payment plans are available. For more information please call 212-427-2244 ext. 570.
CLASSICAL MUSIC INTENSIVE
SESSION I: July 9 – July 20, Children ages 6-12, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
SESSION II: July 23 – August 3, Teens ages 13-19, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Appropriate for both beginners and intermediate students.
Instruction is given in: Sight-Singing/Solfeo, Theory/Harmony, Chamber Music, Music Appreciation/Music History, Introduction to Violin Playing, Rhythm Class/ Percussion Band.

LATIN MUSIC INTENSIVE
July 30 – August 10, Teens ages 13 -19, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Working with master musicians who specialize in the Afro-Caribbean Latin style, this program is designed for serious intermediate/advanced teens with strong reading skills and at least three years previous training in their instrument. Special Guest Master Artists: Arturo O’Farrill, Andy Gonzalez, and Louis Kahn. Instruction is given in Clave, Afro-Cuban Folkloric music, Standards, Chart Reading, Improvisation, Latin Jazz, Descarga, Charanga, and Advanced Ensemble work.
