Daddy Yankee has fallen ill and won’t be able to attend this year’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade.
“The reggaeton superstar, whose new album, “El Cartel: The Big Boss,” hit stores Tuesday, was hospitalized in Miami early Friday for an intestinal virus and dehydration, forcing him to miss Puerto Rican Day Parade festivities in New York.
Yankee’s sudden illness, in the midst of an intense promotional campaign for the new CD, forced the cancellation of his appearances at last night’s El Bling Blineo concert at Shea Stadium and today’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade down Fifth Ave., where he was scheduled to ride on the MTV Tr3′s float.
In Yankee’s absence, Jennifer Lopez will step in as the featured attraction on the float sponsored by MTV Tr3, a Latin-flavored music channel.
