What was it about those rowing songs in our childhood? From “Row your boat” to
“Micheal, row the boat ashore,” we had to sing about rowing at some point in our youth. And it you went to summer camp you even had to strap on a life vest and get out there and row. Just because you live in Harlem doesn’t mean that you have to cast aside your memories of row, row, rowing gently down the stream. On Saturday, the Harlem River Boat Club will be on the banks of the Hudson teaching people how to row in honor of the 1st annual Learn to Row Day.
Meet ya’ mates on the shore of the Dyckman Landing in Fort Tryon Park where you will learn (or relearn) how to hold an oar (or learn what an oar is!) and participate in a variety of nautically themed events. Sounds like good clean fun that the whole family can enjoy! Manhattan is an island, so why stay landlocked when you could be merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily rowing away…after all, life is but a dream!
