There is something about taking your first sip of a really fantastic glass of wine. Sometimes it is smooth, sometimes it has a bite and sometimes it just hugs your tongue as it slides down your throat. I obviously, like wine a little too much (if there even is such a thing).

If you are anything like me you’ve been jonesing for a sweet wine spot in the neighborhood for quite some time and In Vino Veritas on St. Nick and 172nd St. is just that place.

When you walk in the first thing you might notice is a sign in a non-descript frame behind the bar that reads, “Life’s too short to drink cheap wine.” I agree. That is the mantra that the bar and its owners apparently live by.

The owners, Francis and Liz, are both from the neighborhood and say they opened up In Vino Veritas to give the area a nice, relaxed place to hang out. It looks like it’s working because they are already planning on opening up another bar with a bigger kitchen down the block and possibly hosting live music.

The 3-year old bar cum restaurant is already a neighborhood staple. Warm, homey and friendly, the bar makes for a great night out without having to go too far. The wine list changes every month or so, but offers a good variety of wines by region, with reasonable prices. The menu currently has a fair amount of appetizers and paninis to curb your appetite while enjoying a few glasses of wine.

I think life really is too short to not drink wine at all, so don’t waste it.
