I
meant to post this article last week. Carol’s Daughter produces my favorite products – ever. I would make special trips to Brooklyn to replenish my supply of products. Although her 125th store doesn’t have the same intimacy as the original store in Brooklyn, it does have an elegant feel and open lay-out that offers a sensory experience just by entering the oversized doors. One Freestyle Friday I’ll have to compile a list of some of my favorite CD products. Although the products are now available at Sephora, I recommend going into the flagship or legacy store to purchase your CD products.

Does Anyone know where you can purchase CD’s “Hype” hair butters or oils. It’s out of stock, but I thought maybe some stores still might carry a few. If we can’t find CD, maybe someone who can recreate the scent of “Hype” Hair product?

I ordered something for my sister for Christmas 2006. This is not growing pains, CD needs a new person to manage their online orders. I had the same double billing/received product late experiences back then that are being complained about here recently. I will never order online from them again.

I was very upset when my order was charged twice in December, but I worked in Customer Service for several years, and I understand that credit card processing errors happen occasionally.
I was very pleased with the care Carol’s Daughter gave me and was pleasantly surprised by the $15 Gift Certificate and Gift Basket full of CD Goodies, along with a personal message from Lisa Price apologizing and explaining the situation.
We are sometimes harder on black-owned businesses, but fail to work up an equal fervor for companies that are making profits on the pain of people.
My advice would be to take all that passion and energy and boycott Wal-Mart (who have blatantly discriminated against their AA employees, not to mention their use of sweat shops to produce their products)…. Use that energy to protest this illegal war in Iraq. That this energy and vote this September for Barack Obama…
CD is a new company and growing pains are to be expected. You have a choice not to purchase from them… the Earth will still revolve.
Take this energy that is doing nothing and apply to changing the world and making it a better place!!!!
Peace!

All, I just ordered products from Carol’s Daughters. Robin was awesome in customer service :>; awesome!! I am so sorry for the others that experienced double billing, but my debit card was billed correctly today — only once. Also, it’s my understanding that CD has expressed regrets and even extended an olive leaf to all customers that were affected. We all make mistakes. It’s what we do in rectifying the mistake that leaves an indelible impression. Please continue to give CD a chance.
As long as they have rectified the problem, all is well. Based upon all the above comments, you obviously love her products, just like I have begun to love them.
Blessings.

Oh my gosh. I only wish I would have found this website before I ordered. I ordered 3 products on March 30th, 2008 and was double-billed. Not once, not twice, but three times. I called customer service more than 5 times and was given the run a round. Everyone I spoke w/ was unprofessional except Audrey Cannady. She was very pleasant and professional. I am highly disgusted especially seeing this has been going on for sometime now. The biggest issue is that I and any other customers seemed not to be notified of the issue as we had to find out by reviewing our bank statements. Just for clarification I used a debit card. It has taken me 3 weeks to be credited and thats just b/c I hounded them almost daily and disputed the charge w/ my bank. PLEASE think long and hard before purchasing products from Carol’s Daughter via website. I will not be making any more purchases from CD. To make matters worst Julia Primus hung up on me. I wonder if Mary J. Blige, Jada and Will Smith, and others know about the horrible and unprofessional service being rendered w/ their name being used. I doubt it. I am on a mission b/c obviously this has happened to too many customers.

Well i love CD’s candy paint lip gloss it stays on for hours and adds a great shine with the most natural colors. I also lost my sister to the disease “lupus” so i purchased the lip gloss because they make a small amount of the proceeds to the lupus foundation.

I was also double billed when I ordered back in Jan. I did recieve my money back, but it did take a while to reach a customer service rep. I love what the Hair Milk has done for my kids hair, and I thought about ordering some additional products online today. I think I will try out this Sephora website… This issue really needs to be addressed.

CAROL’S DAUGHTER’S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NIGHTMARE! Yes, their products are great…but not if your shipment never arrives! I have never had this many problems with any other company, and I place large orders from many beauty websites. I placed a very large order of more than $500 from Carol’s Daughter. My credit card was double charged. I called customer service, they reversed the charge, but a day later I was double-charged AGAIN! Customer service again reversed the charge and had no idea why it occured. Then my large order never arrived. I thought that was strange since the website said these items were all “in stock.” I placed another call to customer service. She explained that they were doing inventory in their warehouse all week and that my items would ship overnight on Monday and arrive Tuesday. I called a couple days later just to follow up. The rep assured me that my items would arrive on Tuesday. Guess what?! It’s Tuesday and no package! I’m on the phone calling Carol’s Daughter right now. I’ve been on hold for 30+ minutes waiting for a customer service rep. I suggest if you must purchase Carol’s Daughter products, buy them from Sephora or Sephora.com. You can be sure you will receive superb customer service.

I was one of the people that was double billed in Decemeber and them billed again in late Decemeber. I have called customer service many time, emailed proof that I was billed twice and have not gotten my money back. At this point it has been well over a month (Dec 13th and Dec 24th) and no resolution. I will never order from them on-line again. I love the products, however customer service is everything.

I wanted to try CD hair products but the conditioners have been out of stock for soooo long that I have passed. My question is what is going on b/c the conditioner isnt in the Sephora store neither. The rest of the hair products @ Sephora looks old & cruded I guess b/c no one is buying the shampoo w/o the conditioner.

There was a time when her product was worth buying. I mean it wasn’t that expensive until the smith’s jay z’s and mary came a long then the popularity of her product wen sky high!
I have opted to switch to another brand who have similar products for a fraction of the cost!

That’s a good idea, I will never order online from them again. Because it is obvious that they don’t care about their customers. If they were aware that there was a problem with customers being double billed, they should have shut down the online billing until the problem was resolved, but they have not. Everytime I call them I get the run around.

I’m a huge huge fan of Carol’s Daughter products and I’m also really big on having quality customer service. The Carol’s Daughter stores have excellent staff and I’m always really pleased with their work. However, I ordered online one time and it was a nightmare. It wasn’t a double-billing issue, but it was an issue about an out-of-stock item (that I learned about only after my partial order had already shipped) and it took far too long and way too much back forth to get my refund and I have decided to just never order online again. I love the products though, so now I just buy stuff in the CD stores or in the Sephora stores.

If the “Glitch” is still there after the purchases were made at different times, it means that software programmer for the store placed that “glitch” into the program and the store is aware of it also.
Keep a sharp eye on your credit/debit accounts for any strange activity, you information might have been skimmed and get a new credit report.

I also made a purchase from Carol’s Daughter in November and was doubled billed. I have tried unsuccessful to receive a refund. It is not the credit card company that made a mistake, because I used a debit card. When contacting CD many times, I was told they knew about the double billing and would correct it, but they have not.

I made a purchase on from the website on December 11 and I also found a double charge on my account. I too was told that it was a glitch in the system and would be cleared in a few business days. It did take forever to reach customer service. I have only ordered once before and did like the product but I don’t think I will order from them again. I don’t extra money like that to pay double the price.

You should be disputing the charge with your credit card company not the store. If there was a glitch, it was with the credit card software.
Let the credit card company investigate the double charge.

I recently made a purchase from the website carolsdaughter.com, on 11/26/07. I checked my credit card account and saw that I was double charged for my purchase. I have made a few attempts to get a refund and have been told that they will get to it in a few days…today is December 13 and there has been no proactive acknowledgement from them and no credit to my account. I suspect that others may not be aware that they were double charged on that date. I was told there was a glich in the system and that many customers were double charged.
There should be a better level of customer service in thie instance.

I absolutely love CD’s products! I started off with the body products a few months ago and decided to try the hair products. How amazed I was to see within a week of using the products, my hair is already growing and my fine hair is getting thick. I believe I will be a customer for life.

I love her products. Yes they are very pricey. What would you pay for healthy hair. I have natural thick healthy hair and CD products attribute to that imensely.

I’ve been using CD’s products since she was selling them out of her home. The prices are high, but i’m sure Jada, Mary J and Jay-z don’t come cheap.
By the way while the Body Shop might be $17.00 the African man sells a tub of Shea Butter for $5.00 and the store next to the Body Shea sells wonderfully scented shea Butters for $6.00 with a quantity discount.I am however true Blue to Lisa that is unless they do away with Hype… I already miss Water.

have you been across the street to the body shop? $17 for a jar of body butter that last about 2 weeks and is not made from as high quality ingredients. CDs products are worth their weight in gold in comparison.

No disrespect, observational opinion from consuming similar products from exclusive boutiques throughout Manhattan. Aren’t CD prices sky high? I mean seriously above and beyond what some very shops in all the trendy areas of Manhattan charge for comparable high end products?
