Why would anyone waste their money on expensive coffee. Especially in Harlem… Didn’t the last one on 145th close thanks to low sales.

Both of you make very good points…I didn’t know J.Robinson park was having concerts. Nice!

Actually the Bradhurst corner is a better location for a ‘Bux. It sits right across from the park, where they will be having concerts this summer. Plus it catches all of the walking traffic from all of the new developments heading to the subway station on St. Nick, and it is directly across from Maroon’s and Duane Reade.

Although Starbucks has lost its appeal by appealing to the masses, it is still a welcome sight. The rents they are charging in that building would pretty much erase any dreams of a Mom and Pop coffee house. Besides the historic brownstones are a better place for local businesses. This new building is too corporate for the intimacy and history needed for a small-time and cozy place.

Striver, NYSC and Bank of America will be occupying the remaining retail space. B.O.A. will have the FDB entrance. NYSC has the 145St entrance with use of the second level as well.
While I know that Starbucks coffee is more of a status marker in terms of upcoming neighborhoods I personally would’ve preferred a local franchise similar to the East Harlem Cafe or even relocating Sugarhill Java & Tea there. But I realize that Starbucks is more of an anchor in the coffee business. If only it could have a real coffeehouse vibe! Not likely!

This looks like it’s at the corner of Bradhurst & 145th? I guess they couldn’t get 145th and FDB, that likely went to the 2 story NYSC. In either case a great addition to the neighborhood…you know you’re on the map when Starbuck’s arrives.
