You’ve heard the buzz about the slew of restaurants that are expected to wash up on the shores of the Hudson. As I type this post the first of the bunch is preparing for their grand opening. The Hudson River Cafe is described as modern and sleek with 25,000 square feet in the fine dining area that seats up to 86 diners, and an additional bi-level outdoor area that seats 75 more. The interiors were designed by Angela Chang and the architect is Albert Montoya.
The menu will be modern seasonal American with an emphasis on local flavors prepared skillfully by the executive chef, Ricardo Cardona. The Hudson River Cafe will also offer an eclectic selection of wines to complement their array of dishes. The Cafe will be open for lunch and dinner. Lunch prices will range from $5-20 and dinner prices from $10-30. Fairly reasonable for dinner with a view!
The Hudson River Cafe is located along 12th Avenue near Fairway and Dinosaur BBQ. We will be offering an insiders look at the space prior to opening so stay tuned!

It stinks to have to be the comment police but this thread is now closed to comments. There were a couple of posters abusing the comments policy. Please don’t use this site as a source to slander or to vindicate a personal relationship. If you are going to post comments repeatedly in a single thread, please try to stick to the same user name. Very good, close friend!!!!… You just said it. Instead of be honor and thankfully for what the owners did to our community, we just waist our time on poor comments. If chef Ricardo is not good, I believe the owners are smart enought to find out. Both, Hamlet & Max are very hard working guys and deserve this new opportunity.
Let’s give them our support and critics in the positive side for everybody benefits….
Remember… Ricardo is just the chef not the owner

Ive dined at the hudson river cafe and i think the atmosphere, food and service were great. For those who didnt understand the hudson river cafe concept the menu offers a selection of quality food from the hudson valley down to harlem such as organic corn fed steak to paellas to collard greens. The drinks and the wine list are amazing. Ive dined all around the city and i would say this place offers the best outdoor dining experience…its the best thing thats happen to harlem…GREAT FOOD…LIVE MUSIC…definitely going back for more!!!

Congratulations! Finally we have a nice and decent restaurant where we can chat, listen to jazz music, drink fine wine and tasting an excellent cuisine. I have to say that I was happy to see the management greeting at the door and making sure that I enjoy every minute and penny spent there. All employees display a good degree of hospitality. Food was brought to me in a promp and professional way. I guess many business owners are shaking due to the impact.
Please tell mayor Bloomberg to lease you the extra meters to the river. Vivan los latinos enterpreneur!

There is still no legible menu available anywhere online. I really think restaurants should have their website livce the day they open. I believe it can add to the hype.

Ate at HudRivCafe on 2cnd day the place was open and this restaurant has alot to offer. Pro’s are-
Stylish and impressive inteior from the decor and design aspect of the place down to proper quality table and glass wear. out doors look perfect for coctail parties and warm weather dining. The waitstaff and Mgmnt are pleasant, accomedating and fairly attentive.
Con’s are-
Price points.
you should not come here if you are looking for a great steak at a neighborhood place unless you dont mind spending $38 for it and also spending $20 for an appetizer of ‘smoked fish trio’ for one person presumably. we tried a few dishes (mussles were ok. house Pate seemed prepared from another store, maybe Fairway) and the other menu selections we sampled were
ho-hum if not forgetable. I feel this place will become satisfying but I also feel that regardless of atmosphere, service, and quality of the product offered here, the prices will ostracize quite a number of people who will never consider being ‘regulars’. And this is not yet a “destination spot” location in any way, shape or form. one major NYC city water/sewage treatment plant is the nearby view on the water in addition to NJ and the GWBridge.

P.S. if by “latin owners” you mean Dominican, then sure they’re “latin.”

I ate at Hudson River last night and it was great. The owners are incredible and give a substantial amount of personal attention to customers. The food was wonderful and I would not describe the cuisine as “American.” It is without a doubt Spanish/Latin American food. For example, I ate a paella, meanwhile my boyfriend ate a churrasco with yuca fries. I highly recommend checking it out.

For the most part, everyone who sent in a comment, your need to use spell check on your computes, please. Keep a open mind. You are what you eat.

Chef’s can be real pricks because they are under a tremendous amount of pressure on a daily basis and they are generaly surrounded idiots that need constant babysitting, especially ppl from the F.O.H. I have worked in kitchens from the age of 15-more than half my life and when you start off in this biz you are horrible in the ‘begining’ and this Biz aint for everybody. I am happy that another place is opening up in my hood to eat at and if dislike hudson riv for more than 3 visits, I can simply not return. But I give local places a chance.
Just found this uptown-flavor site. Ppl are funny here,eg.latin Chefs. if they were from scotland would that make them Scotch?

i think anyone who’s worked in the restaurant industry in any way big or small can confirm that the better the chef, the bigger the asshole. and forget it if he’s earned a name in NYC–the asshole chef capital of the world. i think we can all rest assured that he’s no better and no worse then most of the glitterati of NYC cuisine.

Latest rumor I heard? That corner on 126th and Lenox, the under-remodeling building just down from Starbucks on the same side? I asked a worker on site if they new what it was going to be, they said an ESPN Sports Zone Bar/Cafe, etc.
I kid you not. Wow…it that indeed happens….wow.
