A rumor has been swirling around for a while: Los Angeles favorite, Fatburger, will be coming to Harlem. The New York Daily News Post, has put the rumors to rest:
N.Y.C. prognosis: Fatties rejoice! The chain plans to open three stores in Manhattan in the next 12 months. One in Greenwich Village, one in Harlem and one in Midtown. Rapper Pharrell Williams is a partner in the venture.
Thank goodness New York Sports Club is opening a second location in Harlem!

I for one am Happy to have Fat burger. It’s refreshing to get a big chain in here that’s actually Black owned instead of places like McDonalds or Starbucks.

Fatburger serves heathy food too and it’s actually GOOD. I love their Boca burgers, and if you happen to like turkey burgers, they make the best. Try the double turkey with grilled onions – my husband’s favorite after-gym meal. Their new wedge salad isn’t ground-breaking, but the lettuce is very fresh, the bacon is crisp, and the dressing is tasty. The chili-cheese fries are a decadent treat. I believe the name “Fat Burger” has confused some east coast peeps.

i read this today:
“Fatburger has added two new, healthier choices to their menu: the Veggieburger (which uses an actual Boca patty and is served on a whole wheat bun), and the Fat Salad Wedge (a hunk of lettuce with dice d bacon, tomatoes and dressing). “

They’re putting a Fatburger near my place in Vancouver and I CANNOT WAIT! The service at the one on Denman is great (if a little loud and enthusiastic for Canada) and the food is very, very good.

Fatburger has tried to conquer New York before. About twenty years ago they opened a store on Third Avenue at about 18th Street. I ate there a few times; it was nothing special. After a while the standards of service and cleanliness decreased and their sales plummeted. Nobody missed them when they high-tailed it back to the Left Coast. Better luck this time.

….eeer just what Harlem needs. Too this announcement was not accompanied by the facts of the consequences of dining at Fatburger.
Why spoil the hoopla with truth? Let’s bury our collective heads in the sand.
Fried food, red fatty meat, soda? Woo-hoo! Who needs the Klan when we do a good job in killing ourselves.

You’re kidding right! I mean I like my fatty food as much as the next guy but…we got IHOP, Popeye’s, Chucky Cheese’s. And those are the franchise players. Do we really need Fat Burger as well? We already got Jimbo’s!
