A brand spanking new Subway sub shop is coming to the building located at 135th Street between St. Nicholas and Frederick Douglass Avenue. Also, on the Seventh Eighth Ave. side a new furniture store called Frederick Douglas [sic] Furniture. This completes the occupancy of the retail space in the building that presently houses a Duane Reade drugstore, Chase bank and Harlem Children’s Zone. Across the street is the only Quizno’s in Harlem and Barbara’s Flowers. Still no word on the closing of the short lived Cafe Lia down the block.

Regarding the topic of conversation, the building with the Duane Reade, Subway, etc. I believe is also getting a not-for-profit associated with Bill Clinton, no?

It’s really a damn shame how that Popeye’s opened 5 or so days ago on 135th & 7th and is doing crazy bang up business ever since.
I wonder how many of those patrons have health insurance, seriously. I wonder if my tax dollars are going to be paying for operations to clean out their arteries.
The sometme mentioned “fast food tax” should be real. Make that 3-pc chicken dinner that’s $2.99 now $3.99 and a dollar goes to the needed healthcare down the line, a “sin” tax no different than cigarettes.
Do you think the cigarette sellers will then also sell fried chicken wings on the side too? Black market tax free?

What the heck happened to Lia? I actually had set up a first date at Lia some months ago. Little did I know they were closed..lol. It was a bit embarassing. Fortunately I always keep a couple back up places up my sleeve and we ended up going to Society Coffee. Society Coffee is awesome and I’m glad we went there instead…but…come on! Lia just let me down like that. No note or nothing!

Will a decent diner or SOMETHING please come up to 145th St? All we’ve got is that raw oganic place, and I like my food cooked!

Should that location be between St Nick and 8th?
Quiznos is on 8th Ave.
