SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Poetry: Submit 8 poems or no more than 15 pages of poetry.

Fiction: Submit 25 pages of fiction.

Music: Submit one CD or audiotape of no more than 7 minutes duration.

Photography: Submit one CD or slide sheet of no more than 15 images.

CREATIVE FICTION – THE ART OF WRITING
Every novel is in fact a form of biography. This workshop explores various forms of creative fiction including autobiography, historical novels, and the short novel.

HOW TO WRITE A NOVEL IN 5 DAYS!
Participants will be shown how you how to write a very rough draft of a complete novel!

POETRY-TO-PERFORMAN CE AND BACK AGAIN
This is a chance for “page” poets to explore the performance aspect of their poems and for the “stage” poets to use their poems as crafted compositions.
QUINCY TROUPE
CRAFTING POETRY FOR PUBLICATION
Create at least one new poetic form and learn about the masters of the art form, e.g., Federico Garcia Lorca, Pablo Neruda, Derek Walcott, Bob Kaufman, Robert Hayden, Lucille Clifton, Amiri Baraka, Ishmael Reed, Rita Dove, Yusef Komunyakaa, Victor Hernandez Cruz, June Jordan, and others.

ANDREW CYRILLE
PERCUSSION
A percussion clinic, lecture, and instrumental demonstration about jazz and drumming.

CHARLES MARTIN
PHOTOGRAPHY
Photograph portraits, locations, spaces, and scenery, look at, discuss photography, and keep journals.

* DEADLINE & FEES

All materials should be accompanied by a $25 non-refundable submission fee, a self-addressed stamped envelope, if you wish your materials returned.
Submissions should be received by March 31, 2007.

Upon notification of acceptance, participants are required to make a $500 deposit.
