Saturday Tutoring Program


In mid-February, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol will kick-off our Saturday Tutoring Program to provide additional academic support for our After School Program Elementary-aged youth. We are looking for ten dedicated adults to tutor in the following subjects:

  • Literacy (reading comprehension)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Study tips for fifth and sixth graders

The qualities of a great Saturday Program tutor:

  • Committed to attend all Saturday tutoring sessions from mid-February to early June
  • Has the ability to engage youth ages 6 to 12
  • Background in elementary education a plus
  • Understands the Mission & Educational Philosophy of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol

Shaping a new generation of Black and Latino youth ||The Brotherhood/Sister Sol
offers a safe space full of resources and love for 200 Black and Latino youth to speak their minds, acquire knowledge and skills, explore their identity and beliefs, and receive support to make their dreams reality. Our programs and activities – mentoring, leadership development, international study, academic tutoring, internships, community service, job training, writing collective, youth organizing – provide these young people with the know ledge and skills necessary to understand and overcome the negative pressures of poverty, racism, drugs, and violence.
