Check out the advertising for a luxury development in East Harlem. I’ve taken the liberty of highlighting some of my favorite phrases:
The Upper Eastside is now the playground for the Sophiscated [sic] Bohemian.
The Nina is bursting with flare and dazzle. Build [sic] from the ground up in 2006 the Nina is located in the “New” East Harlem. These apartments capture the soul and life style of the area. Since the recent demands for real-estate in East Harlem[,] developers have joined the cause in building luxury Condominiums.
East Harlem will be know [sic] as the area that will feature Soho type lofts, with a Noho sensibility, and a village flare, without the hefty price tag.Source: Prudential

East Harlem is my neighborhood and has been forever. East Harlem is “hispanic” and does have a whole foods you have to walk to get there. There are many things besides fast food here. Walk on any avenue and walk south you will find bars and restaurants and all sorts of things other neighborhoods have.
New East Harlem my ass. I wonder how many residents can afford to move there. I’m betting not a lot. There are many schools and hospitals within reach as well as programs and jobs. The way other people advertise this neighborhood gets on my nerves. It is a good neighborhood but people always miss the mark on what it really is like to be here.

I live on 105th and 2nd and if this is really going to happen there needs to be some pizza places that sell Wheat pizzas, a Whole Foods and some sushi…cause right now its brimming with McDonald’s, chinese, crappy pizza joints and grocery stores that don’t even carry hummus.

I think East Harlem is the new place for the Sophiscated “or” Sophisticated people of NYC!
As a new resident of East Harlem, I know first hand that it is filled with soul, life and lots of music.
FYI;
If you want to get Phat or fat from eating to junk foods you will.
If you want to date boyz or a Sistah instead of boys or a Sister, this is your choice!
Hopefully you get my point.
This is nice publicity. If, I were the person that built this building, I would be HAPPY! Pubiclity is Publicity!

Thank you for pointing this out. Upper East Side? I think not. It is East Harlem above 96th Street on the East Side of Manhattan. So many people have named East Harlem – the upper East Side, Upper Yorkville, Carnegie Hill and Harlem. Soul and life of the area? What soul and life are they referring to?
