Gated: Cafe Lia and Strivers Row Eateries

What the hell happened to Cafe Lia? I walk through there every day. It’s been a month since I’ve seen this place open. I hope everything’s ok with Lia.

Well Hugo, I’ve wondered the same thing myself. If anyone has the inside scoop please let us know. Although the location of the cafe was in an area that is still developing, Cafe Lia usually had customers typing away on their laptops or reading the various magazines and newspapers scattered around. It was a cozy, neighborhood spot. I suspect that either something happened or their licensing wasn’t in order. I know that the times that I visited, they weren’t very friendly and the slice of cake I ordered seemed a bit old.

Since the only other cafe-type place in that neighborhood is Home Sweet Harlem (which seems to be hanging in there despite their past problems), Cafe Lia could have been a welcome addition to the Strivers Row area.

Also gated in that neighborhood is Sugar Shack. It seems that Londel’s is about the only eatery along Strivers that has longevity.
