oya.gifAre You:

  • A survivor of domestic violence?
  • A citizen or permanent legal resident of North Carolina?
  • Already accepted into or currently attending a college, university, or other post-secondary institution?

If so, then you are eligible to receive a $1000 scholarship! The Lady Oya Scholars Program (LOSP), sponsored by the Lady Oya Foundation, Inc., provides financial assistance to DV survivors attending post-secondary programs. The purpose of the LOSP is to assist DV survivors in financing their post-secondary education. The main objective of the program is to aid survivors in the development of an educational plan that will allow them to secure employment and the financial security necessary for ultimate economic independence and self-sufficiency.

Two (2) annually renewable scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded each year. Support is available for full or part-time students who are citizens or legal residents of the state of North Carolina attending vocational, community college, or four-year degree programs. Applicants that will receive the highest priority are single parents with the greatest financial challenges. Generally, our funding will target those who are in critical financial situations who require both an education and outside funding for assistance.

To request an application, or for more information, please contact Marcus Harris, Scholarship Committee Chair, at mjharris@ladyoyafoundation.org or (919) 596-9519, or visit www.ladyoyafoundation.org (applications can also be downloaded directly from the site).
