Celebs Help ImageNation’s Dream Come True

Back in June we published a post about ImageNation and its plan to open an independent movie house in Harlem next year. The cinema will feature the films of artists who reflect the Harlem community and will be housed in the new Kalahari Condominium complex on 116th Street. As readers pointed out in the previous post ImageNation tested Harlem’s desire for independent films by offering weekly screening in a brownstone. The response was so positive that they set out to raise enough funds to build an independent theater which they have dubbed My Image Cinemas.

How do you feel about My Image? Is Harlem ready for this type of theater and will they be able to keep afloat competing with a major chain like the Magic Johnson on 125th Street?
